Six nominations at the Junos

Six Analekta recordings are nominated for a Juno in the categories this year!

In the category “Classical Album of the Year: Large Ensemble or Soloist(s) with Large Ensemble Accompaniment”, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and his Music Director Kent Nagano have received a nomination for Beethoven: The Ideals of French Revolution, a CD featuring The General, an homage to Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire. In this same category, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, under the direction of Bruno Weil, has garnered a new Juno nomination for Beethoven: Symphonies Nos. 7 & 8.

In the category “Classical Album of the Year: Solo or Chamber Ensemble”, jurors recognised the subtlety of Anton Kuerti’s performance of Haydn’s Six Piano Sonatas. The Gryphon Trio was also nominated for Schubert: Complete Piano Trios.

In the category “Classical Album of the Year: Vocal or Choral Performance,” Analekta received two of the five possible nominations, thanks to Ensemble Caprice’s Gloria! Vivaldi’s Angels, a new reading of Vivaldi’s famous work and Bach and the Liturgical Year, featuring Shannon Mercer and Luc Beauséjour, a recording that reinsert some of Bach’s works in their liturgical context.

The winners will be announced on March 29, at a ceremony to be held at Vancouver’s General Motors Place (broadcast on the CTV network).
