50 candles for the 50th anniversary of the CMC
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Music Centre, the organisation has chosen to recognize 50 performers and conductors “who have played exceptional roles in shaping the Canadian music scene over the course of the last 50 years”. The CMC wants most of all to stress how important their collaboration is when it comes to bring new music by Canadian composersto life. Among the 50 nominated, some Analekta are featured: pianist Louise Bessette, conductor and composer Walter Boudreau, flutist Lise Daoust, soprano Marie-Danielle Parent, accordeonist Joseph Petric, pianist Christina Petrowska Quilico, as well as trombonist and conductor Alain Trudel.
Next Monday, November 9 novembre, at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, a free concert is offert as part of the celebrations, featuring the Gryphon Trio, in an excerpt from Constantinople by Christos Hatzis, pianist Christina Petrowska Quilico Ann Southam’s Glass Houses No. 5 and the National Arts Centre Orchestra, under the direction of Jean-Philippe Tremblay, in works by Somers, Louie, Richardson and Gougeon.
