A season that unfolds, the moment when the day turns dark or the rain forms shapes on the window – such are the ranges of emotions drawn from music for a complete sensory experience.Night
“All ideas are woven on the canvas of night,” wrote André Suarès. Whether welcoming the secrets of lovers or bringing peace and serenity, night, unlike anything else, encircles and soothes us. For poets it has always inspired sumptuous verses and for composers some of the most sublime works. Whether appearing under the nocturnal aspects of
Chopin,
Borodin and
Satie, acting as background for songs by
Schubert and
Fauré, being the recipient of an ode in the famous aria from
Rusalka or being a source of inspiration for
Debussy, night guides us on the paths of dreams.
