Claire Guimond

 Claire Guimond
After graduating from McGill University, Claire Guimond studied baroque flute with Barthold Kuijken, obtaining a certificate from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. In 1981, along with three other Montréal musicians, Chantal Rémillard, Betsy MacMillan and Hank Knox, she founded Arion, whose popular regular season concerts continue to grace the city’s musical life. With Arion, Claire Guimond has toured extensively in Europe, Canada, Mexico and the United States, and has made several recordings, including De Paris à Versailles, Mythologie, Conversations en musique, three of Telemann’s Quatuors parisiens, and Bach’s Musical Offering. She also recorded, with harpsichordist Luc Beauséjour, the six Sonatas of Opus 91 by Bodin de Boismortier. Claire Guimond is a regular participant in the Lamèque International Early Music Festival, as well as a frequent performer, both in soloist and ensemble roles, with such highly regarded baroque ensembles as Toronto’s Tafelmusik, the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal, the Chapelle royale in Paris, the Salomon String Quartet in London, and the Orchestre baroque de Limoges, in France. She teaches baroque flute and chamber music at McGill University.
