Alain Marion studied the flute with both Joseph and Jean-Pierre Rampal. In 1961 he wins the International Competition in Geneva and embarks on an international career giving concerts in all five continents. From 1964 to 1979 he alternates between soloist for the Radio France Chamber Orchestra, the Paris Orchestra, the French National Orchestra and the Ensemble InterContemporain. He works with Munch, Karajan, Bernstein, Klemperer, Boehm, Ozawa, Solti, Boulez, Maazel, Abbado, Rostropovitch and Celibidache.
