Bernard Lagacé is a native of Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec. Since the 1950’s, he has been a leader in the revival of the classical organ in North America. He is an internationally known performer and teacher, and has served on the juries of several prestigious international organ festivals. Bernard Lagacé is best known for his interpretation of Baroque music and Johann Sebastian Bach in particular, having played the entire organ works of Bach in two separate series of concerts. In 1978, Lagacé received the Grand Prix du Québec for the performing arts and was made Member of the Order of Canada in 1986.
