Gilbert Patenaude has been the musical director of the Petit Chanteurs du Mont-Royal for the last thirty years. He studied organ and piano at the Vincent d’Indy School of Music in Montreal. An alumni of the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Montreal, he pursued further studies at the Nice International Academy of Music in France and in Hilversum, Netherlands.

He took over the position of music director of the choir in 1978, thus becoming the third to occupy this function but the first non-religious person. He is responsible for the musical education of the students at the elementary and secondary levels.
