Buenos Aires-born Juan Manuel Quintana started studying viola da gamba in his hometown with Ricardo Massun. He pursued further studies in Geneva with Arianne Maurette, in Basel (Schola Cantorum) with Paolo Pandolfo and, finally, at the Paris Conservatoire with Christophe Coin. He has appeared in Europe, the United States, Latin America and Japan as a soloist and with celebrated ensembles such as: Les Musiciens du Louvre, Concerto Vocale, Hespèrion XXI and the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne. An active recording artist, Quintana’s Bach, Buxtehude and Marais albums have been hailed by the specialized press.
