Born in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, Klaus Florian Vogt first studied horn at the academies of Hannover and Hamburg and began his musical career as 1st Horn in the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Parallel to his orchestra position, he studied voice at the Lübeck Music Conservatorium with Professor Günter Binge. After fi nishing his studies, he joined the Flensburg Opera in 1997/1998.

In 1998 Mr. Vogt changed to the Semperoper in Dresden, where he collaborated among others with conductors like Giuseppe Sinopoli and Sir Colin Davis. During this period, he expanded his repertoire substantially. Since 2003 Klaus Florian Vogt has been working as a freelance singer, guesting in Hamburg, Dresden, Brussels, Antwerp, Amsterdam, and Cologne.

In May 2006 he gave his very successful US debut as Lohengrin at the Metropolitan Opera New York. He gave his debut in Munich in March 2007 with a new production of Khovanshtshina/Andrej, (for which he is nominated as ‘’best singer/actor on the music stage 2007” for the FAUST Theatre Award).

In summer 2007 he gave his debut at the Bayreuth Festival. In the staging of Katharina Wagner he had a triumphal success as Walther von Stolzing in the new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.

His debut at the Vienna state Opera followed in spring 2008 as Erik in Der fliegende Holländer and Lohengrin.
