A skilled drummer, Camil Bélisle has been a dynamic presence on the Montreal music scene for more than thirty years. Travelling to New York, Los Angeles, Boston and Toronto, he has trained with some of the greatest drummers in the business — Peter Erskine, Alan Dawson and Jim Blackley, to name a few. Throughout his long, illustrious career, Camil has played with celebrated artists like Lorraine Desmarais, Michel Donato, Kenny Wheeler, Sonia Johnson, and Dorothée Berryman. He has recorded some 20 CDs, three of which won Félix Awards for Album of the Year (Trio Lorraine Desmarais, Jazz for Christmas and Lorraine Desmarais Big Band). A regular at the Montréal International Jazz Festival, he has also taken part in some 20 recordings of Jazz sur le vif and Jazz beat for Radio-Canada. A consummate professional, this talented artist is much in demand as a radio and television musician and is often asked to perform at major national and international musical events. As a dedicated teacher, Camil has been sharing his expertise with students at Cégep de Drummondville since 1989.
