A native of Holland, Christina Mahler studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Anner Bylsma. She immigrated to Canada in 1981 to serve as principal cellist of the Tafelmusik Orchestra. Praised for her rich sound, expressivity and sensitive musicianship, Christina is increasingly in demand as soloist and recitalist. She has played numerous concertos with Tafelmusik, including works by Boccherini, Haydn, Vivaldi, C.P.E. Bach and Leonardo Leo, and appears regularly in solo and chamber recitals in Toronto. In addition to teaching at Tafelmusik’s annual Baroque Summer Institute, she also teaches at “la Caixa” International Music Course in Spain.
