Acclaimed as one of Canada’s finest concert and oratorio singers, bass-baritone Daniel Lichti is also no stranger to the operatic stage. He continues to perform internationally with prominent orchestras and choral organizations and is a popular guest at many Bach festivals. A seasoned recitalist, he is a member of Piano Plus, an outstanding group of Canadian musicians who offer concerts and masterclasses in remote, culturally under-serviced Canadian towns and regions. He is heard often on the C.B.C., has sung for the B.B.C., and has been filmed in concerts seen regularly across Europe and North America. He was appointed to the Faculty of Music at Wilfrid Laurier University as an Associate Professor in 1998 and is often invited to give masterclasses at many North American universities, as well as in Argentina and Europe.
Among his many performances of Winterreise, Lichti has sung this cycle for Festival Canada (Ottawa), a C.B.C. broadcast from Toronto, Temple Square Concerts in Salt Lake City, Utah, and most recently, in the Manoel Theatre in Valletta, Malta. Mr. Lichti and Leslie De’Ath, his partner for this recording, were once invited to perform Winterreise on a few days notice for the National Gallery in Washington D.C., taking the place of an ailing Hermann Prey.
Mr. Lichti recently appeared as a Coach/Adjudicator on the Gemini Award winning BRAVO-TV series, Bathroom Divas.
