Darren Lowe was born into a family with a rich tradition of musical pedagogy and performing. For his part, Darren Lowe has been concertmaster of the Quebec Symphony since 1987 and has taught at the Quebec City Conservatory of Music since 1992. His musical education included studies with some of the greatest pedagogues of the 20th century, such as Ivan Galamian, Sally Thomas, Joseph Gingold and Franco Gulli. Mr. Lowe has received numerous prizes and distinctions and his many performances with various orchestras across Canada have earned him wide critical acclaim.As a chamber musician, Darren Lowe has performed in North America, Europe, and Asia with such musicians as members of the New York Philharmonic as well as with members of the illustrious Chamber Players of the Boston Symphony Orchestra during a tour of Japan in the spring of 2002. Along with his wife, pianist Suzanne Beaubien, Darren Lowe formed the Duo Lowe-Beaubien and in 1990 won the second prize at the International Chamber Competition of Paris. The Duo Lowe-Beaubien has since established itself as one of Canada’s premier chamber ensembles.
