Versatile German soprano Gabriele Hierdeis has attained international renown throughout Europe and in performances in the United States, South America, Egypt, Russia and China. Her reputation as an excellent interpreter of baroque music has led to concerts and recordings with leading ensembles such as the Musikpodium Stuttgart, Cantus Cölln, La Stagione Frankfurt (under M. Schneider), La Risonanza, Milan (under Fabio Bonizzoni) and The New York Bach Ensemble (under J. Rifkin). She took part in famous German and international baroque festivals, including those of Trigonale in Austria, Oude Muziek Festival in Utrecht, Musica Antiguà in Barcelona, and the Handel-Festspiele in Halle and Göttingen.
Gabriele Hierdeis has earned high praise for her performances of contemporary music. She has worked with Ensemble Modern and Klangforum Wien under the direction of Sylvain Cambreling, Beat Furrer, Bernhard Kontarsky, Frieder Bernius and Franck Ollu in works by Stockhausen, Ligeti, Penderecki, Berio, Lachenmann, Chin, Widmann, Furrer and in various world premieres of living composers.
First opera engagements were with the Frankfurt Opera, debuts followed by participations in productions at the Schlosstheater Potsdam, the Markgräflichen Opera House in Bayreuth, the Schwetzinger Festival, the Festival d’Automne, the Steirischen Herbst and New York’s Lincoln Center Festival.
