ruly a national treasure, Oliver Jones is recognized everywhere as one of the greatest Canadian musicians. It is in the popular St. Henri neighbourhood that he grew up, only a few doors from his idol and friend Oscar Peterson. In fact, it is with the latter’s sister, Daisy Peterson Sweeny, that he took up the piano. During a career of more than sixty years, Jones has been heard on the stages of all the continents. A member of the Ordre du Quebec and of Canada, his commitment to social causes has earned him a Martin Luther King, Jr. Prize.
