With a wealth of varied musical experience-contemporary music, musical theatre, composition, orchestral conducting, pianoforte, teaching, regularly playing chamber music-, for JEAN-CLAUDE PENNETIER, his favourite means of expression is as a solo pianist and recitalist. After completing his musical studies at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris, he soon made a name for himself, performing brilliantly in various international competitions: First Prize at the ‘Gabriel Fauré’, Second Prize at the ‘Marguerite Long’, nominated First at the Geneva Competition, First Prize at the Montreal Competition…
JEAN-CLAUDE PENNETIER is now frequently invited throughout France and abroad as a soloist with internationally renowned orchestras: Orchestre de Paris, Dresden Staatskapelle, Tokyo NHK, et al. He also appears at festivals including La Roque d’Anthéron, Prades, Seattle, ‘Moscow Nights’ and other prestigious events. His CDs of works by Brahms, Schumann, Debussy and Beethoven, released by the Lyrinx label, have received the highest distinctions from the musical press. His recordings devoted to Schubert-the Sonata in B flat major and the Four Impromptus, Op.142-was awarded the Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros in 1999.
