Toronto-based Tafelmusik is one of the world’s leading period performance ensembles, renowned internationally for its distinct, exhilarating, and soulful performances. Founded in 1979 by Kenneth Solway and Susan Graves, Tafelmusik was under the visionary artistic leadership of Jeanne Lamon for 35 years. She now serves as Music Director Emerita.

At the heart of Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra is a group of remarkably talented, enthusiastic, and dynamic musicians, each of whom is a specialist in historical performance practice. The Tafelmusik Chamber Choir, specializing in baroque and classical repertoire, was formed in 1981. Directed by Ivars Taurins, it has won plaudits for its clarity, nuance, and brilliance.

Each year Tafelmusik reaches millions of people through its worldwide touring schedule, its extensive home season of some 80 concerts a year in Toronto, outreach activities, unrivalled artist training programs, and over 90 acclaimed recordings resulting in nine JUNO Awards.
