Yves-G. Préfontaine studied organ and harpsichord with Mireille and Bernard Lagacé, and with Scott Ross at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he obtained a first prize in both disciplines. He has also won first prizes in the John Robb competition as well as in the Royal Canadian College of Organists’ national competition. He later perfected his harpsichord skills with Gustav Leonhardt in Amsterdam. As both a soloist and chamber musician, Yves-G. Préfontaine has played for most of the organ recital series in Québec. He is frequently heard on the radio network of Radio-Canada, and has performed in the United States, Belgium and France. He shares the post of titular organist with Bernard Lagacé at Montréal’s Marie-Reine-des-Cœurs sanctuary.
